Portrait of Abraham Lincoln on February 28, 1857, photographed by Alexander Hesler. Joseph Medill was present at the time and insisted that Abraham Lincoln smooth down his hair. Lincoln ran his fingers through his hair right before the image was captured. The original negative was destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire. Reversed image of original.
